About This Role

This role involves working under supervision to perform or assist in preparing offerings for specific transactions related to indirect automobile loans. The Underwriter will analyze credit, collateral strength, and financial worthiness of loan parties, manage portfolio credit risk, and make recommendations on credit decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Work under supervision or independently on relatively basic transactions, with potential limited approval and/or exception authority
  • Perform or assist in preparation of offerings for specific transactions or in management of a portfolio, interacting with internal/external customers
  • Analyze credit, collateral strength, and financial worthiness of loan/transaction parties to identify risks and mitigants, performing or assisting in preparation of offerings and/or scorecards
  • Perform ongoing credit risk management for assigned portfolio, if relevant
  • Contact internal/external customers and other parties to gather information and clarify inconsistencies, inaccuracies, or missing information, including relevant pre-approval and post-approval activities
  • Perform or assist with the identification and/or confirmation of all external regulatory requirements, ensuring internal policies/procedures are followed
  • Make recommendations on credit decisions or make credit decisions directly, as appropriate

Requirements

  • Appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for an Underwriter I role

Qualifications

  • University/college degree
  • < 1 year of professional experience and/or successful completion of a formal development program, or a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) in lieu of a degree
