Serve as an Unarmed Public Safety Officer providing security services with a customer-service approach, ensuring safety and security for patients, visitors, and team members at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
Responsibilities
- Provide security services focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion in accordance with policies, procedures, and training
- Inspire confidence in patients, visitors, and team members through a professional, approachable, and service-oriented appearance
- Perform routine interior and exterior patrols to identify vulnerabilities, hazards, and fire conditions
- Prevent, respond to, and investigate workplace violence incidents and service calls
- Serve as a primary resource for de-escalation, utilizing use of force when necessary
- Perform key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies
- Investigate incidents on Advocate Health property and complete timely and accurate reports
- Perform liaison rounding duties to cultivate close partnerships with all departments and units
- Liaison with federal, state, and local law enforcement and first responder agencies
- Maintain current Department training standards in radio communications, verbal de-escalation, hemorrhage control, CPR, and use of department-issued equipment
- Assist with exterior traffic and crowd control, including parking enforcement and vehicular assistance
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- 1 year of experience in security, related public safety, or customer service
- Ability to successfully pass background investigation, drug screen, and pre-placement physical
- Above average level of emotional intelligence
- Daily commitment to patient-centered safety practices
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to exercise mature judgment and sound reasoning
- Demonstrated experience in quickly assessing dangerous situations
- Demonstrated ability in verbal and written communications
- Ability to use a computer for documentation (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, web navigation, database entry)
- Ability to defend self and others in physical confrontations
- Ability to communicate effectively via radio and telephone
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- 1 year of experience in security, public safety, or customer service responding to emergent situations and resolving risks
Nice to Have
- Behavioral Threat Assessment knowledge
- Use of Force Review
- Crime through environmental design awareness
- Ability to present material and facilitate meetings
