About This Role

This Transportation Engineer will manage and contribute to infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of Chesterfield County's transportation systems. This role involves collaborating with other engineers, engaging with stakeholders, and overseeing projects from inception to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in researching, analyzing, and evaluating transportation projects and initiatives
  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop and implement innovative solutions to address transportation challenges
  • Manage consultants and contractors throughout the project delivery process from inception to construction completion and closeout
  • Engage with community stakeholders, government agencies, and other relevant partners to gather input and support for transportation initiatives
  • Attend and present at public meetings or hearings

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a minimum of four years of comparable work-related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A current, valid driver's license and a good driving record

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or four years of comparable work-related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Entry-level, with possibility of up to 4 years of related work experience in civil engineering

Nice to Have

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)/ Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Functional knowledge of transportation and engineering-related software
  • Familiarity with MUTCD, AASHTO, and VDOT standards, specifications, and procedures
