Summer Intern - Economic Development

About This Role

The 2026 Summer Economic Development Intern will work closely with department staff on small business and entrepreneurial projects. This role involves engaging with county staff, organizations, and businesses to gather information, improve Hispanic business outreach, and develop a plan for continued engagement.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with department staff and a business support organization on small business and entrepreneurial related projects
• Connect with county staff, organizations, and businesses by phone, in-person, and virtually to obtain information
• Engage with Hispanic businesses during events and programs
• Develop a plan to improve Hispanic business outreach
• Research, compile and present project data effectively

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
• Minimum GPA of at least 2.8
• Ability to participate in the full 10-week program (May 26, 2026 - July 30, 2026)
• Commitment to public service
• Genuine interest in learning about public administration
• Ability to work independently with direction
• Ability to interact with businesses and staff in various settings
• Ability to research, compile and present project data effectively

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
• No prior experience explicitly required, but strong research and presentation skills needed.
