The Medical Associate provides supportive services to healthcare providers and clinical staff in an ambulatory care setting, focusing on patient registration, administrative tasks, and direct patient support.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on patient criteria
- Performs patient check-in and check-out, gathers demographic data, and verifies insurance eligibility
- Obtains insurance information, verifies eligibility electronically, and takes patient pictures
- Ensures patients review and sign electronic documents including consent, financial agreement, and HIPAA
- Follows up to gather missing data and materials for intake process, or refers to senior staff
- Scans necessary documents into the EMR system
- Greets all patients, family, or other individuals with excellent customer service and professionalism
- Retrieves laboratory and ancillary test results for providers
- Completes, retrieves, and/or prints patient forms
- Performs check-out functions, including verifying encounter forms and prescriptions, creating follow-up appointments, and printing necessary documents
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- BLS certified
- Medical Assistant Certificate
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
Nice to Have
- 1-2 Years outpatient ambulatory care experience
- Spanish speaking
