Temporary Medical Associate

About This Role

The Medical Associate provides supportive services to healthcare providers and clinical staff in an ambulatory care setting, focusing on patient registration, administrative tasks, and direct patient support.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on patient criteria
• Performs patient check-in and check-out, gathers demographic data, and verifies insurance eligibility
• Obtains insurance information, verifies eligibility electronically, and takes patient pictures
• Ensures patients review and sign electronic documents including consent, financial agreement, and HIPAA
• Follows up to gather missing data and materials for intake process, or refers to senior staff
• Scans necessary documents into the EMR system
• Greets all patients, family, or other individuals with excellent customer service and professionalism
• Retrieves laboratory and ancillary test results for providers
• Completes, retrieves, and/or prints patient forms
• Performs check-out functions, including verifying encounter forms and prescriptions, creating follow-up appointments, and printing necessary documents

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• BLS certified
• Medical Assistant Certificate

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Nice to Have

• 1-2 Years outpatient ambulatory care experience
• Spanish speaking
