Building Service Attendant

About This Role

This role is responsible for maintaining an approved level of cleanliness and sanitary conditions in assigned areas within NYU Langone Health Medical Center, ensuring adherence to safety and infection control guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain established safety and infection control guidelines
• Follow established departmental safety guidelines when using equipment and moving furniture, utilizing proper body mechanics
• Wear gloves at all times and follow established infection control procedures to prevent cross contamination
• Advise supervisor of any hazardous conditions and post appropriate wet floor signs
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, collect trash, and polish floors using buffing/burnishing machines
• Perform high dusting, spot wash walls and doors, remove marks, and clean and make beds
• Wash toilets, clean furniture, empty trash receptacles, and clean Venetian blinds, shades, radiators, railings, stairways, lights, vents, and doors
• Remove and hang cubicle and shower curtains, and use a ladder for door frames and cleaning picture frames
• Wash porters closets, equipment, and replenish cleaning supplies
• Use telephone and pager for Bed Tracking, and be proficient in the operation of the computer Bed Tracking System
• Perform 7-Cleaning Steps for each patient room daily and provide discharge cleaning as required
• Consistently maintain adequate supplies throughout the daily work day

Requirements

• Ability to communicate and understand simple directions in English
• Ability to read MSDS & chemical labels
• Knowledge in hospital safety, specifically RACE, PASS, chemical and trash safety, MSDS, HIPPA and all infection control protocols

Nice to Have

• One to two years experience cleaning in a Health Care environment
