About This Role

The elementary school teacher provides instructional leadership in a K-6 educational environment, fostering learning for all students. Responsibilities include supervising and evaluating students, developing comprehensive lesson plans, and adhering to educational policies under the principal's direction.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures, including North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards
• Assist school administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life, developing and maintaining reasonable classroom behavior rules
• Create a culture of effectiveness by setting high standards and expectations for all students
• Plan and implement a program of study in the assigned content area that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods and create an engaging classroom environment
• Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects
• Diagnose student learning challenges, maintaining records for IEPs and 504 Plans, and provide an instructional program for all students including those with disabilities and limited English proficiencies
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to assess student progress, acting as a test administrator for the North Carolina Test Program
• Meet with parents/guardians, counselors, and administrators to discuss student progress and resolve behavioral and academic challenges
• Participate in Professional Learning Community (PLC) and staff meetings, and engage in professional development to improve skills and knowledge

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Valid NC Teaching certification or eligibility for NC Teaching certification in assigned area
• Comprehensive knowledge of elementary curriculum principles, standards, and expectations
• Ability to utilize appropriate data and information for instructional decisions
• Proficient in verbal and written communication
• Skilled in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
