About This Role

The Expanded Impact EC Teacher (EIT-EC) is an intermediate-level role responsible for significant instructional leadership, planning, and delivery to support exceptional children. This position involves monitoring student progress, collaborating with staff, and ensuring high-quality education aligned with IEPs and grade-level standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate-level work with limited decision-making discretion related to accomplishing 30% more instructional leadership responsibilities above a typical EC teacher
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction for 70% of the day
  • Monitor student progress to determine instructional needs and identify social, emotional, behavioral, developmental, organizational, and time-management learning needs of individual students
  • Collaborate closely with other staff members to review student progress and adapt instruction for exceptional children
  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
  • Set high expectations of achievement and hold students accountable for behavior and academic standards
  • Design assessments and instruction aligned to IEP strategies and grade-level standards, providing accommodations as prescribed
  • Maintain high growth with students assigned to EIT-EC and/or team
  • Informally mentor and lead peers, especially in instructional planning, EC compliance, and differentiating instruction
  • Provide support to teammates, spending no more than 30% of instructional day building instructional capacity within other teachers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 2 years of prior teaching experience with knowledge of best practices for the instruction of EC certified students
  • Evidence of initiative and effective leadership/coaching of adults
  • NC Professional Educator's License in one or more exceptionalities (Adaptive Curriculum, General Curriculum, Specific Learning Disabled, Behaviorally/Emotionally Disturbed, Severely/Profoundly Disabled, Mentally Disabled)
  • Completion of Teacher Leader Pathway micro-credential courses
