Elementary General Music Teacher

About This Role

The Elementary General Music Teacher instructs students in music, band, or orchestra, assisting them in developing instrumental techniques and music reading. This role involves planning and implementing a music program, maintaining an orderly classroom, and collaborating with school administration and staff to carry out Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Assist school administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct
• Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintain order
• Establish and maintain an orderly and supportive classroom environment
• Plan and implement a program of music study aligned with NC Essential Standards for Music
• Utilize various methods and technologies to adapt music instruction for all students
• Incorporate diverse assessment methods to analyze student work and learning
• Collaborate with arts staff and classroom teachers on arts integration and curriculum coordination
• Maintain accurate inventory of musical equipment and ensure instruments are in playing condition
• Communicate program needs to the principal and collaborate with feeder school music staff to ensure program continuity

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Music Education
• Valid NC teaching license in assigned area
• Knowledge of NC Essential Standards for Music
• Knowledge of various learning styles and instructional strategies
• Skilled in communication, both verbal and written

• Bachelor's Degree in Music Education

• Master's Degree in Performance or Music Education
