This is a contract position for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support K-12 students in a school setting in Lowell, MA. The role involves delivering individualized instruction, collaborating with staff and families, and assessing student progress to maximize learning outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students with visual impairments in grades K-12
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to develop and implement educational plans
- Assess student needs and progress regularly, adapting strategies to maximize learning outcomes
- Utilize specialized teaching tools and technology appropriate for visually impaired students
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student independence and confidence
Requirements
- Active Visual Impairment (VI) Teacher License in Massachusetts or valid MA DOE License
- Successful completion of MTELs relevant to the role
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and accommodations to meet diverse student needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Nice to Have
- Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments within a K-12 educational setting preferred
