This role involves supporting surgical procedures, particularly on the Labor and Delivery team, by demonstrating advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques, anticipating surgeon needs, and serving as a resource in specialty areas. The position calls for a dedicated professional who will uphold high standards of patient care and identify variances in expected outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical technique
- Demonstrate responsible behavior as a healthcare professional
- Identify variances from expected outcomes and respond to changes in patient needs
- Demonstrate knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, including passing instruments, sutures, and other appropriate items
- Serve as a resource in at least 2 specialty areas/procedures
Requirements
- 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience or equivalent
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association certification
- Registered Surgical Technologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia license
Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent
- 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience or equivalent
