Surgical Technologist

About This Role

This role involves supporting surgical procedures, particularly on the Labor and Delivery team, by demonstrating advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques, anticipating surgeon needs, and serving as a resource in specialty areas. The position calls for a dedicated professional who will uphold high standards of patient care and identify variances in expected outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical technique
• Demonstrate responsible behavior as a healthcare professional
• Identify variances from expected outcomes and respond to changes in patient needs
• Demonstrate knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, including passing instruments, sutures, and other appropriate items
• Serve as a resource in at least 2 specialty areas/procedures

Requirements

• 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience or equivalent
• Basic Life Support from American Heart Association certification
• Registered Surgical Technologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia license

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent
• 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience or equivalent
