About This Role

The Surgical ICU Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care, serving as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers. This role involves performing procedures, educating patients, and managing evidence-based practices to ensure exceptional patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver high quality, patient-centered care in the Surgical ICU
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical provider(s)
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner
  • Teach patients/families/caregivers about medical condition, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures
  • Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding for patients/families/caregivers
  • Teach non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes
  • Manage evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures
  • Manage the quality of care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan
