This role involves coordinating patient referrals, obtaining necessary authorizations, and scheduling surgical procedures and diagnostic tests for patients. The specialist will educate patients on insurance coverage and ensure a smooth patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Complete referrals for patients and coordinate with referring and receiving practices and/or departments
- Coordinate and prepare financial estimates for patients
- Obtain all necessary authorizations
- Direct patients to providers within their insurance plan
- Review benefits and educate patients on insurance coverage
- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, or other services within various departments with internal and ancillary providers
- Review schedules and confirm accuracy and proper time allocation
- Follow up on all referrals to ensure no care gaps
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Computer experience
- Customer service experience
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
Nice to Have
- Thorough understanding of Insurance coverage (FSC/Coverage/Plan types) and Medical Necessity policies
- Knowledge of medical records software
