Supervisor Operating Room Assistant

About This Role

Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Operating Room Assistant team at Atrium Health Pineville, ensuring safe and efficient patient care. This role involves staff development, performance evaluation, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Develop assignments to ensure work is performed per written procedures and guidelines for safe, economical, and efficient patient care
• Identify training needs and participate in presentation of in-services
• Coordinate and evaluate the orientation process for new teammates
• Evaluate teammate performance and assist with completing annual performance appraisals
• Manage the interview process for potential candidates by scheduling and arranging peer interviews
• Assist with preventative maintenance of OR equipment processes and reporting/tracking broken or malfunctioning equipment
• Ensure physician preferences for equipment and positioning needs are met
• Monitor and order supplies to ensure par levels are maintained
• Coordinate and manage the service and activities of the Operating Room while assisting the surgical team with direct and indirect patient care
• Oversee housekeeping duties and act in a supportive role for other staff members

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Operating Room Assistant
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required within 90 days of hire

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Operating Room Assistant required. Operating Room Assistant Lead or Environmental Services Supervisor experience preferred.
