Summer Internship

About This Role

This internship provides an immersive, ten-week program for college students to gain insight into the insurance industry and daily operations of multiple departments. Interns will work alongside seasoned mentors to develop expertise and set the stage for future career growth within a privately held brokerage.

Responsibilities

• Participate in various weekly training sessions to enhance professional skills, covering topics like Risk Management, Commercial Insurance, Employee Benefits, Sales, Marketing, Finance, IT, and HR
• Shadow team members during client and prospect meetings to understand risk improvement, insurance, sales, and marketing processes
• Participate in various client service events
• Assist service teams in resolving client issues efficiently and effectively
• Engage with customers or clients to provide service and/or sales
• Contribute to operational improvements by providing input and suggesting solutions
• Integrate new technologies into existing tools and processes to boost efficiency
• Perform data analysis, including work comp review and raw accounting data
• Conduct original research and prepare reports based on findings, including recommendations or alternative proposals for action
• Work within the operations department to integrate new agencies into processes and workflows

Requirements

• College students entering their junior or senior year are eligible
• Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
• Must be reliable, organized, and interested in the insurance industry
• Must be proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must embody the Heffernan Habits

Nice to Have

• A basic understanding of insurance concepts is preferred
