Student Nurse or Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Med Surg Oncology

About This Role

This role primarily involves providing direct patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, acting as a liaison between patients and nurses, and ensuring high-level customer service. The PCT contributes to improving health care quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness within the organization's policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including personal care, vital sign measurement, and assisting with mobility
• Act as a liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns
• Provide high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and employees
• Ensure accurate, precise, and timely documentation for patient care
• Participate in hand-off/report of pertinent patient and departmental information
• Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated
• Mobilize patients using therapeutic transfer techniques to foster independence and safety
• Encourage patients to complete tasks as independently as possible
• Individualize care based on patient's interests and hobbies

Requirements

• Successful completion of nursing aide training program OR successful passing of STNA State Tested Nurse Aide (required if OH LTC), OR CNA Certified Nurse Aide, OR Nurses Aide state testing or completed a nursing program that had one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation, OR 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility is preferred.
