About This Role

This Student Nurse Extern opportunity helps nursing students gain hands-on clinical experience and build meaningful relationships within a specific unit, supporting a confident transition into a nursing career.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside an RN mentor and care team
• Provide holistic and quality care to patients
• Participate in coaching and hands-on learning with RN mentor
• Develop critical thinking skills as a nursing professional
• Follow preceptor’s schedule, including rotating weekend shifts
• Work three 12-hour shifts for a total of 36 to 40 hours per week during the summer cohort
• Maintain good standing to remain employed past the summer cohort
• Work a flexible per diem schedule of 16 hours bi-weekly (maximum 12 hours each week) if continuing employment past summer cohort

Requirements

• Active enrollment in an accredited RN program
• Graduating in December 2026 or May 2027
• Ability to commit to full-time 10-week summer cohort (three 12-hour shifts each week)
• Ability to follow assigned preceptor’s schedule
• CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification by the Maryland Board of Nursing
• BLS (CPR for Healthcare Providers) certification

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an accredited RN program, graduating in December 2026 or May 2027
• No clinical experience outside of nursing school is required
