Store / Night Clerk

About This Role

Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a safe and clean store environment, contributing to sales and profit goals.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates
• Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and making product suggestions
• Maintain knowledge of products sold in the department and store
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates, taking appropriate action
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions or illegal activity
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting necessary repairs
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents

Requirements

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
• Effective communication skills

Nice to Have

• Any retail experience
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing)
