About This Role

The Sterile Processing Educator coordinates, implements, and evaluates the Sterile Processing Department's orientation program, fosters professional development of associates, and acts as a clinical resource while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define, coordinate, implement, monitor, and evaluate the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) orientation program
  • Provide competency-based education processes for associates
  • Foster ongoing professional development of associates through performance assistance, needs assessment, and goal identification
  • Promote participation in educational opportunities
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate the role of unit-based preceptors
  • Orient new SPD associates to department policies, procedures, and job functions (Decontamination, Instrument Assembly, Sterilization, Case Cart Assembly, Equipment handling)
  • Demonstrate, explain, and monitor activities of new orientees or personnel seeking advancement
  • Monitor associate engagement and address issues to assure resolution
  • Communicate and ensure incorporation of practice changes into daily activities
  • Monitor and evaluate unit compliance with regulatory agency requirements

Requirements

  • 3+ years Surgical environment experience
  • Good working knowledge of computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office, e-mail and hand held technology
  • Good communication skills
  • Professional State Licensure under IDFPR

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a surgical environment and 1+ years teaching or supervisory experience.

  • 1+ years teaching or supervisory experience
