Stepdown Registered Nurse

About This Role

Deliver expert nursing care in a step-down unit during night shifts, providing support to patients in a lower-acuity setting. This contract opportunity is ideal for RNs with solid telemetry experience who thrive in a hospital environment focusing on patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to step-down unit patients, maintaining a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms with precision
• Conduct IV starts and administer medications following facility protocols
• Collaborate with medical staff to ensure patient safety and timely interventions
• Maintain documentation using Cerner EMR system
• Adhere to attendance and call-off policies to support team reliability

Requirements

• Active RN license
• Current BCLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum two years experience in Step-down nursing with at least one year in telemetry or medical-surgical step-down care
• Skilled in reading cardiac rhythms and telemetry strips
• IV start proficiency
• Ability to work night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. including weekdays and every other weekend
