The Staff RN GI Procedure Lab performs the nursing process to provide high-quality, safe, and individualized patient care within an interdisciplinary team. This role ensures care is consistent with population-specific characteristics and cultural diversity, always partnering with patients and significant others.
Responsibilities
- Perform the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence base practice
- Use analytical/critical thinking to ensure individualized care
- Coordinate care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieve optimal patient care outcomes
- Provide relationship-based patient centered care consistent with population specific characteristics and cultural diversity
- Adapt service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity
- Partner with the patient and significant others for setting and purpose (e.g., bedside shift report; interdisciplinary rounds; just in time and planned patient teaching)
- Practice using current clinical practice standards and promote the professional care delivery model
- Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care including interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation
- Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members
- Participate and support performance improvement, research, and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care
- Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, required mandatory education, and population specific education
- Serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses to ensure a qualified workforce and healthy work environment
- Promote Evidence based practice, nursing research and performance improvement in nursing
- Uphold all healthcare system/organizational policies, standards of work, and clinical competencies
- Participate in data collection, pose relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence-based practice, and consult appropriate experts for practice questions
- Proactively plan for the care of patients across the care continuum in the course of giving direct patient care
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years direct patient care nursing experience
- Ability to read, write and speak English language
- Optimize the use of technology to support clinical care
- Basic computer skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Customer service skills
- Ability to function in a fast paced environment
- Ability to respond to emergencies in using a decisive, composed and respectful manner
- Excellent time management skills
- Practices nursing using evidence and analytical skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
Qualifications
- Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred
- Minimum 5 years direct patient care nursing experience
