About This Role

The Staff Psychologist will address complex diagnostic and therapeutic questions for a diverse patient population within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This role is crucial for the psychological rehabilitation of patients and ensures comprehensive, timely psychological services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and psychotherapeutic techniques
  • Function as a key member of the multidisciplinary pain management team in the Pain Management Clinic
  • Provide a full range of psychological services including evidence-based psychotherapy and various assessments
  • Consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues
  • May be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities
  • Ensure a well-balanced, diversified, and comprehensive program for psychologists and trainees
  • Consult with other health care providers and treatment teams regarding overall program planning and implementation
  • Participate in decisions regarding treatment philosophy and operational procedures

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship
  • English Language Proficiency
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program
  • Successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA
  • Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program or a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a psychological dissertation
  • At least two years of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, or 5+ years experience in outpatient Mental Health and/or Primary Care Mental Health Integration for preferred candidates.
