About This Role

The Medical Support Assistant is essential for facilitating patient flow and communication, performing administrative duties such as updating patient records, paging healthcare workers, and managing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate patient flow communication at desks
  • Perform vital administration duties such as updating BMS icons
  • Page physicians or other healthcare workers
  • Perform essential actions for admissions, transfers, and discharge process (ADT)
  • Utilize patient data systems in scheduling patients for treatment and annotating patient records
  • Perform front desk duties, receive telephone calls and visitors
  • Make and cancel appointments
  • Review patient records for necessary information and verify patient demographics and insurance
  • Communicate, collaborate, and work effectively with other nursing and hospital personnel
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment at the Nurse's Station

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship
  • English Language Proficiency
  • Ability to meet, communicate, and interact with individuals in a courteous and helpful manner
  • Ability to utilize computer systems to enter administrative data in patient systems
  • Ability to learn and utilize basic medical terminology

Nice to Have

  • Strong customer service, clerical, and administrative experience
