The Staff Pharmacist will manage and oversee all aspects of the pharmacy operation, ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, leading the pharmacy team, and providing compassionate patient care. This role focuses on improving patient health through dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
- Oversee the pharmacy as the Pharmacy Manager's proxy during bench shifts, including coaching team members and providing performance feedback
- Assume Pharmacy Manager's day-to-day duties when the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the pharmacy team in workflow procedures and safety guardrails
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with healthcare teams, and proactively resolving issues
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and engage Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
- Support effective inventory management by following and coaching the pharmacy team on best practices, especially for cold chain products
- Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure pharmacy operations are compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge and support patients
Requirements
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and Focus: ability to concentrate and pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively help people, notice and understand patients' reactions
- Communication Skills: use and understand verbal and written communication, active listening
- Mathematical Reasoning: ability to use math for dispensing calculations
- Issue Resolution: identifying and resolving challenging patient or colleague interactions
- Physical Demands: mobile and upright for extended periods, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, move fingers, stoop, close visual acuity
Qualifications
- Entry level with 1-2 years of related work experience preferred
Nice to Have
- 1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require
