About This Role

The Specialty Nurse Educator Oncology is responsible for enhancing professional practice and ensuring quality patient care in the oncology specialty across assigned hospitals. This role provides evidence-based education and develops programs to promote professional competency for nursing and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and assist with orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention within the division.
  • Conduct orientation in a manner that facilitates a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in the development, coordination, management, facilitation, conducting, and evaluation of competency programs.
  • Identify learning needs of identified specialty staff through on-site review or metrics.
  • Develop activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill, and practice.
  • Plan educational content delivery that encourages learner engagement.
  • Assess practice gaps.
  • Collaborate with clinical education team members to evaluate and adjust educational programs based on evaluations and feedback.
  • Participate in and provide lifelong learning.
  • Utilize the novice to expert continuum when developing staff.
  • Monitor practices or operations with reference to laws, regulations, guidelines, or industry practices to assess compliance, risk, or exposure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • 2+ years clinical education experience
  • 3+ years of experience in acute care hospital
  • Currently licensed as appropriate to education in the state of practice in accordance with law and regulation
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS)
  • Specialty certification as recognized by the American Nurse Credentialing Center

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing Required, Master's degree in nursing Preferred
  • 2+ years clinical education experience

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in nursing
  • 3+ years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership
