Specialized Education Assistant

About This Role

This role supports teachers by working with individual students or small groups to reinforce skills and improve student learning. The assistant guides independent study and assists in maintaining an organized learning environment to maximize student benefit from instruction and resources.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in achieving teaching objectives
• Work with individual students or small groups to improve skills and increase learning
• Reinforce learning of skills introduced by the teacher
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher
• Help maintain a well-organized, smoothly functioning learning environment

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours), or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test
• Ability to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours), or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test
• 1+ year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred

Nice to Have

• One (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting
