Software Engineer

About This Role

This Software Engineer will contribute to the Enterprise Identity team, focusing on modernization efforts for authorization, authentication, and single sign-on security features for American Express applications. The role involves advanced-level engineering, software design reviews, and mentorship within an Agile Scrum team.

Responsibilities

• Partake in software design reviews
• Create software flow and sequence diagrams
• Conduct code reviews
• Aid in mentorship of 5 or 6 junior engineers as well as other engineers as needed
• Create POC's and research new best software decisions
• Make recommendations on best practices and how to move forward
• Partake in scrum meetings and work on new development
• Test and improve existing code

Requirements

• Proficiency in Java
• Proficiency in Spring Core, Spring Boot
• Proficiency in OOP programming
• Experience with ORM like Spring Data or Hibernate
• Experience with SQL and Non SQL Databases
• Knowledge of SOLID principles
• Experience with Microservices
• Knowledge of Design Patterns
• Knowledge of Architecture Principles
• General understanding of authorizations and JWT tokens
