About This Role

This role manages clinical social work operations, ensures efficient delivery of mental health services, and supervises a team of behavioral health professionals within VA facilities in Chico and Yuba City.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate logistical and operational needs across Mental Health programs at assigned sites
  • Directly supervise behavioral health employees in Chico and Yuba City clinics
  • Ensure Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Team meets performance standards and mission
  • Ensure timely, integrated, efficient, and effective delivery of Mental Health services
  • Manage and monitor appropriate performance indicators and adjust as needed
  • Provide oversight to BHIP team operations to ensure comprehensive collaborative care
  • Manage, monitor, and adjust site-based and individual productivity metrics
  • Provide local operational oversight regarding utilization, bookability, and performance metrics
  • Hire and train all BHIP staff at a given site
  • Coordinate with professional leads for professions outside of Social Work
  • Resolve informal complaints and grievances; develop work improvement plans
  • Effect disciplinary measures and review/approve/disapprove leave requests
  • Assure subordinates are properly trained and comply with safety regulations
  • Establish and monitor clinic profiles in terms of availability, utilization, scheduling, and staff productivity
  • Report gaps in resources in a timely manner to appropriate management
  • Attend site management meetings and serve as a liaison with delegated authority
  • Work with facility management to maintain understanding of policy and procedures concerning safety issues and disaster planning
  • Communicate with other MH Managers and MH Administrative Officer regarding space needs or issues
  • Coordinate with and serve as MH liaison to Telehealth, BDMS, Clinical Informatics, IT, and other services
  • Complete assigned Performance Improvement activities
  • Coordinate with facility management on engineering and physical plant concerns
  • Participate in root cause analysis and address action plan items related to patient safety
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments of patient mental and social functioning using DSM 5-TR
  • Represent VA NCHCS at professional community groups and committees

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship
  • Master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited school
  • Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • One year of experience equivalent to GS-12 grade level in social work administration or specialty area
  • Advanced practice social work license/certification to provide supervision for licensure

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, demonstrating advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration with progressively more professional competency and judgment.

Nice to Have

  • Certification or post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university
