About This Role

This full-time contract role involves providing 1:1 American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for a 5th-grade student with cochlear implants in an elementary school setting, facilitating communication with educators and peers.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 ASL interpretation for a 5th grader during classroom instruction and related activities
• Facilitate effective communication between the student, educators, and peers
• Ensure accuracy and clarity in interpreting educational content and social interactions

Requirements

• Active Illinois EIS license for interpreting or an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher
• Proven experience in ASL interpretation, especially within educational environments
• Strong understanding of communication strategies for students with cochlear implants
• Ability to work professionally and collaboratively within a school community
