About This Role

Join Arrowhead Risk Managers as a Senior Underwriter to solicit, underwrite, and price accounts following specific carrier guidelines and all risk modeling. This role involves developing broker relationships and managing the work of other underwriters.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Arrowhead General Insurance Agency service standards
  • Understand carrier guidelines including systems processes related to underwriter duties
  • Underwrite and price accounts per specific carrier guidelines
  • Issue quotes and binders documenting insurance coverages
  • Develop and promote broker/agent relationships to help reach production goals
  • Recognize and evaluate inherent hazards and exposure associated with individual risks
  • Underwrite and bind new and renewal business
  • Oversee and manage the work of Underwriters and Associate Underwriters
  • Review and evaluate mid-term changes in exposure
  • Pre-review existing accounts for potential non-renewal due to claims activity or increase in unacceptable exposure

Requirements

  • 5-10 years related experience in the insurance industry
  • Understanding of policy construction for both ISO property and manuscript property forms
  • Ability to draft manuscript policy endorsements
  • Experience with CAT Modeling – RMS including layering, treaty booking, peril exclusions, etc.
  • Experience with various building construction types and occupancies and their effect on CAT modeling
  • Experience with booking of accounts, endorsements, and additional and return premiums
  • Experience with pricing – rate development for fire, AOP, Named Windstorm, Convective Storm, Flood
  • Experience dealing directly with brokers to develop relationships
  • Deep understanding of commercial property insurance and ability to follow multiple carrier guidelines per account
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, policy and accounting systems, and vendor specific computer programs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five to ten years related experience in the insurance industry and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-10 years related experience in the insurance industry
