Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans

About This Role

Manage multiple Architectural and Engineering (A&E) contracts for the Department of Transportation, ensuring timely execution and proper utilization. Serve as the primary point of contact for all contract-related issues within the district, working closely with the Division of Procurement and Contracts.

Responsibilities

• Manage timely executions and proper utilization/management of multiple Architectural and Engineering (A&E) contracts
• Act as the district’s single focal point for all issues related to assigned Contracts
• Work closely with the Division of Procurement and Contracts (DPAC) to ensure timely provision of documents for new contracts or amendments
• Understand technical/engineering scope of work contracted to consultants
• Work with Project Managers, Functional Managers, and Headquarters units to establish clear project scope
• Evaluate and make recommendations concerning the appropriateness of contracting consultant services
• Identify and resolve issues to negotiate agreements with various agencies and parties
• Represent Caltrans interest and coordinate with consultants
• Evaluate performance of consultants and the products they produce
• Communicate technical information effectively in reports, correspondence and meetings

Requirements

• Eligibility for the SENIOR TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER, CALTRANS exam or state examination list
• Knowledge of contract management phases
• Knowledge of the project development process
• Knowledge of various phases of transportation engineering
