About This Role

This role involves optimizing United Airlines' ancillary product revenue and customer satisfaction by leveraging statistical modeling, machine learning, and project management. You will guide technology development, influence strategy, and impact the company's financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day pricing optimization programs for United’s ancillary portfolio
  • Drive incremental revenue through cross-functional development of pricing strategy and technology
  • Serve as an expert on pricing strategy for external teams
  • Validate models, conclusions, and methodologies throughout the process
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing models and workflows and the required data/technologies
  • Coordinate efforts within Ancillary’s internal teams to deliver actionable business intelligence and tool enhancements
  • Own one or more workstreams related to the development of pricing technologies
  • Develop executive-grade materials for stakeholders
  • Explain technical concepts to less-technical collaborators
  • Function as an internal expert on modeling applied to Ancillary Pricing

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong passion to solve business problems with data
  • Analytical mindset and quantitative orientation
  • Strong knowledge of database querying languages (SQL, Python)
  • Experience with Python for data preparation, model training, validation, and deployment
  • Experience in analyzing complex, high volume data from various sources to identify patterns and relationships
  • Self-motivated
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Economics, or other quantitative discipline
  • 2+ years of related experience

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with airlines and ancillary products
  • Experience with Optimization frameworks and tools (e.g., CPLEX)
  • Experience with Revenue Management practices and demand forecasting for perishable services
  • Experience with statistical modeling and statistical inference
  • Experience in Airline Merchandising, Revenue Management, Management Consulting, or similar commercially-focused roles
