Flight Dispatcher

About This Role

The Flight Dispatcher works closely with the Pilot in Command to ensure safe, legal, and efficient operation of United Airlines flights according to regulations. This role involves preparing flight releases, monitoring progress, analyzing meteorological data, and assisting during irregular situations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the flight release
• Monitors flight progress
• Analyzes and disseminates meteorological information, reviews maintenance limitations and calculates fuel requirements
• Updates the pilot in command of significant changes to the flight plan and provides assistance during irregular and emergency situations
• Maintains qualification and competency in accordance with FAA and UAL requirements
• Interacts with other United Airlines’ departments including Maintenance Control, Operations Planning and Meteorology

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or education equivalent
• FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate
• 1 year of Airline Operations experience
• Ability to work any shift/day including holidays
• Ability to pass DOT background and drug screen
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Successful completion of interview
• Reliable, punctual attendance

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or education equivalent
• 1 year of Airline Operations experience

Nice to Have

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 1 year of FAR Part 121 Dispatch or closely relevant experience (e.g., Pilot, ATC)
• International Dispatch experience
• Experience working as a dispatcher for another airline
