About This Role

This Senior Paralegal will join an in-house government legal team, providing key support for the company's litigation portfolio, eDiscovery activities, workflow management, and attorney assistance. This role involves preparing complex legal documents, conducting legal research, and managing electronic case files.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of technical legal documents that are characteristically complex in format
  • Review incoming documents and material, considering the nature and status of the case involved
  • Prepare indictments, arrest warrants, summonses, motions, orders, and grand jury/trial subpoenas
  • Obtain required information from criminal case files, law enforcement agencies, or other sources for legal documents
  • Ensure recurring legal documents conform to local court rules and format requirements
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for trial by compiling trial/witness notebooks, organizing exhibits, and assembling jury instructions
  • Coordinate with victim/witness specialists to ensure adherence to Departmental guidelines
  • Verify legal citations and statutory references using original and online legal resources like Westlaw and/or Lexis/Nexis
  • Proofread, edit, and revise legal briefs
  • Electronically file legal documents with the U.S. District Court using the CM/ECF system
  • Develop and organize tables of contents and indices to briefs in accordance with established format
  • Compose original correspondence requiring knowledge of legal procedures and specialized terminology
  • Scan/input and link case-related materials into electronic discovery databases and manage those databases
  • Upload/download discovery documents and materials received from law enforcement partners
  • Manage discovery processing and production, including bates-stamping and redaction using Adobe Acrobat
  • Maintain electronic case files, enter data in the case management system, and calendar deadlines

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate or JD or one year of ABA-accredited law school
  • 2+ years of litigation paralegal experience
  • 1+ year of automated litigation support experience
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems
  • Knowledge of legal research procedures and resources
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
  • Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems
  • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources
  • Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure

Qualifications

  • paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study
  • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience and at least one year of experience in automated litigation support
