About This Role

This Senior Paralegal role involves managing complex legal matters, supporting federal, state, and administrative proceedings, and mentoring junior staff within PSE's Legal team. The role requires strong organizational skills, in-depth legal research, and the ability to multitask effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys or outside counsel with ongoing legal work
  • Proof and finalize documents including correspondence, contracts, filings, and pleadings
  • Conduct intermediate to advanced research involving federal, state, and local government agencies and regulatory bodies
  • Support the litigation process by coordinating with counsel and drafting basic pleadings
  • Gather and manage internal document productions
  • Support administrative hearings and regulatory proceedings by reviewing filings and drafting testimony
  • Organize, track, and file regulatory materials
  • Gather, organize, and manage responses to subpoenas and data requests
  • Mentor and train junior paralegals and contribute to process improvements
  • Uphold regulatory privacy obligations and confidentiality of sensitive information

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years’ paralegal experience or equivalent
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, efficiency, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise judgment
  • Proficient with legal research programs (e.g., Westlaw) and court or regulatory processes
  • Superior proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Expert with document management systems
  • Deep expertise in specific legal areas, particularly environmental law and state and federal energy regulations
  • Well-versed in conducting in-depth legal and fact research
  • Proficient in organizing records and managing information and data collection, including eDiscovery
  • Adept at analyzing discovery requests, maintaining crucial case files, and handling sensitive legal records
  • Solid understanding of privacy and data security rules

Qualifications

  • Paralegal degree or working towards one, or Associate/Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or related field
  • Minimum of eight years’ paralegal experience or equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Legal experience working in a utility or corporate setting, or with an an energy firm
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or a related law field
  • Intermediate to advanced legal research skills
  • Knowledge of federal and local court rules
  • Experience conducting witness interviews
  • Knowledge of data forensics
