About This Role

This role supports a government legal team by handling various aspects of litigation, including eDiscovery activities, workflow management, and direct attorney support. The position involves preparing complex legal documents, conducting legal research, and managing electronic case files.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of complex technical legal documents
  • Review incoming documents and material, considering the nature and status of each case
  • Prepare indictments, arrest warrants, summonses, motions, orders, and plea agreements
  • Obtain required information from criminal case files, law enforcement, or other sources for legal documents
  • Ensure recurring legal documents conform to local court rules and style/format guidelines
  • Assist attorneys in trial preparation by compiling trial notebooks, organizing exhibits, and assembling jury instructions
  • Coordinate with victim/witness specialists to adhere to Departmental guidelines
  • Notify case agents and staff of victim/witness issues
  • Verify legal citations and statutory references using Westlaw and/or Lexis/Nexis
  • Proofread, edit, and revise legal briefs
  • Electronically file legal documents with the U.S. District Court using CM/ECF system
  • Develop and organize tables of contents and indices for briefs
  • Compose original correspondence requiring knowledge of legal procedures and terminology
  • Scan/input and link case-related materials into electronic discovery databases and manage them
  • Upload/download documents and materials from law enforcement partners into discovery databases
  • Manage discovery processing and production, including bates-stamping and redacting materials
  • Send continuing discovery to defense counsel as directed by assigned AUSA
  • Maintain electronic case files, enter data in case management system, and calendar deadlines

Requirements

  • Experienced Litigation Paralegal
  • Proficiency with Westlaw and/or Lexis/Nexis
  • Proficiency with CM/ECF system
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat for bates-stamping and redacting
  • Ability to use IPRO Eclipse for discovery processing
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook for calendaring
