Senior Networking Engineer

About This Role

This Senior Networking Engineer role ensures the integrity of network devices and communication systems, designing and programming network infrastructure. The position supports all health system locations by identifying, engineering, and designing networking solutions, providing guidance, and conducting knowledge transfer within the engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure integrity of network devices, communication systems software, and hardware
• Identify, program, and maintain all network and communication applications
• Assist and participate in the review and design of new or existing network infrastructure and systems
• Develop and conduct in-service training on new applications
• Responsible for engineering/designing and programming of networking infrastructure and communication applications
• Develop knowledge base documents and conduct knowledge transfer among engineering team
• Assist in the review and evaluation of project requests and recommend appropriate action
• Administer installation and repair services
• Responsible for first level problem resolution for all health system locations
• Give guidance and direction to engineering team and outside service technicians

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP
• Strong understanding of Wireshark captures
• Cisco ASA
• Palo Firewalls
• VPNs
• Citrix Load Balancers
• Cloud technologies (Google/Equinix/Azure)
• Hands-on experience with Google and Azure Clouds
• VPC peering / VPN concepts, configuration /troubleshooting
• Ability to navigate log-explorer and filter on flows in question
• Strong understanding of Equinix Partner interconnects
• Google native load balancers
• Proficiency in programming language Terraform
• Proficiency in code management tool Git

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
• 3-5 years of relevant experience, required. Highly preferred 10 years relevant network experience including hands-on configurations / operational support.
