Medical Assistant

About This Role

Perform patient care under direct physician/nurse supervision, including preparing patients, administering tests, and recording results to support the overall coordination of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with healthcare team members in coordinating and implementing patient care plans
• Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures, documenting findings in the medical record
• Collect and assist providers in collecting specimens using appropriate protocols
• Perform and document daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment
• Perform electrocardiograms and phlebotomy in accordance with provider orders and infection control standards
• Assist physicians and nurses with special procedures and examinations, ensuring proper patient preparation and instrument provision
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms, stocking supplies
• Participate in pre-visit chart preparation by ensuring required lab results and documentation are available
• Perform various clerical functions such as filing medical records, processing insurance forms, and answering phones

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate OR 1-3 years experience as a medical assistant, emergency medical technician or certified nursing attendant ( with valid certificate) OR Successful completion of the Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, required; Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate OR 1-3 years experience as a medical assistant, emergency medical technician or certified nursing attendant (with valid certificate) OR Successful completion of the Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program
• 1-3 years experience as a medical assistant, emergency medical technician or certified nursing attendant, or completion of relevant training program.
