The Medical Assistant II supports clinical and front desk operations in a fast-paced allergy, asthma, and immunotherapy practice. This role involves performing allergy-specific clinical workflows, handling administrative tasks, and mentoring junior staff to ensure efficient patient flow and excellent patient care.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and record patient vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation
- Assist with allergy testing, spirometry, Niox testing, and immunotherapy under supervision
- Accurately document patient data in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, including restocking supplies and cleaning between patients
- Support patient flow by communicating visit expectations and ensuring timely transitions
- Uphold HIPAA regulations and infection control standards at all times
- Mentor and assist in training new or junior clinical staff
- Serve as a liaison between front and back-office teams to support and improve overall clinic workflows
- Address routine patient inquiries and issues professionally and promptly
- Handle front desk responsibilities as needed, including patient check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and patient communication
Requirements
- 2-5 years of Medical Assistant experience
- Proficiency in allergy-specific clinical workflows (e.g., skin testing, spirometry, immunotherapy)
- Working knowledge of front desk operations, including scheduling and insurance processes
- Demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in EMR documentation
- Ability to mentor newer staff members while modeling professionalism and teamwork
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
- 2-5 years of Medical Assistant experience
