The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for delivering, introducing, and sustaining manufacturing engineering solutions for the Operations organization to achieve Zero Defect Manufacturing processes during serial production. This role involves reviewing, planning, and supporting the creation and maintenance of manufacturing documentation to ensure conformance with customer and GKN requirements.
Responsibilities
- Introduce technical improvement initiatives for sites in North America
- Create and update shop travelers, work instructions, operation sheets, tool orders, BOMs, and change management documents
- Quote manufacturing processes for new work packages
- Implement tooling and production planning from concept to production, utilizing Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tools
- Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives and optimized flow
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role
- Familiarity with general shop safety practices
- Experience with CNC machining, NDT inspection, CMM inspection, Assembly and Paint Processes, GD&T, RCCA & Lean Six-Sigma
- Ability to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial)
- 5+ years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role
Nice to Have
- Experience with composite manufacture and assembly
- Demonstrated performance leading and facilitating cross-functional teams
- Automation integration, programming or implementation of robotic systems for Aerospace applications
- Working knowledge of LEAN processes and practices
- Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
- Demonstrated experience with AS-9145 Zero Defect Manufacturing, or equivalent automotive PPAP experience
- Experience with New Product / Process introduction (industrialization) & existing production process improvements
- Knowledge of statistics and statistical process control (SPC)
- Strong background with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
