Senior Manager Software Engineering (SRE)

About This Role

Lead a team of Site Reliability Engineers focusing on the availability, latency, performance, and efficiency of Capital One's services. Drive enhanced infrastructure, development, and deployment automation within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of high-performing SRE engineers with hands-on technical experience
• Provide SRE services to Card and Bank application teams
• Collaborate with digital product managers to drive reliability into cloud-based solutions
• Develop enhanced infrastructure, development, and deployment automation
• Utilize programming languages like Python, Go, shell scripting, and Java with container orchestration services and AWS tools
• Lead major incident bridges, drive root cause analysis, and coordinate cross-functional teams for service restoration
• Own uptime and performance SLAs for large-scale distributed systems

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering
• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• At least 4 years of people management experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering and 4 years of people management experience

Nice to Have

• Experience in analyzing applications for resiliency and performing SRE activities
• Experience in running production, including incident management activities
• Ability to lead major incident bridges and drive root cause analysis
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools in high availability production environments
• Ability to identify and lead initiatives to automate operational activities
• Understanding of distributed systems, cloud architecture, and modern application development
• Experience in Python, Go, shell scripting (Unix/Linux), Java
• Working knowledge in container technology (OpenShift, Kubernetes), hybrid cloud and AWS
