About This Role

This role involves leading small audits or significant components of larger audits within Capital One's Audit function, specifically focusing on Credit Risk Management. The auditor will ensure regulatory compliance, assess risk, and maintain the integrity of financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead small audits, or own completion of significant components of larger audits
  • Develop engagement planning documentation for assigned areas to communicate rationale for scoping decisions
  • Develop audit programs to ensure adequate coverage of risks
  • Design and execute appropriate audit procedures to verify the effectiveness of internal controls
  • Document auditee processes and procedures, review and analyze evidence, and identify potential issues
  • Prepare clear, organized, and complete documentation to support work performed, including draft findings
  • Establish and maintain good client and team relations during engagements
  • Effectively communicate information and audit progress to team, clients and auditor-in-charge
  • Self prioritize and effectively plan your own work activities managing multiple priorities and tasks across the team to deliver quality results
  • Provide coaching, on-the-job training, and feedback to audit staff, including junior associates and recent hires

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in auditing, credit risk management, financial analysis, or a combination
  • At least 2 years of experience in leading audits or performing in the role of auditor-in-charge

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in auditing, credit risk management, financial analysis, or a combination, with at least 2 years leading audits or as auditor-in-charge.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s Degree in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
  • Professional certification such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
  • 5+ years of experience in Credit Risk Management at a large bank or financial services organization
  • Extensive experience in credit policy or underwriting from a financial institution or consulting
  • A track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics; a strong quantitative orientation matched with conceptual thinking skills
