The Senior Estimator will support power generation projects, preparing and reviewing construction cost estimates for various projects in different development stages. This role involves collaborating with designers, consultants, and contractors to ensure accurate cost assessments and participating in cost negotiations.
Responsibilities
- Confer with designers, consultants, and contractors to coordinate and establish detailed cost estimates for construction projects
- Prepare and/or facilitate the preparation of detailed cost estimates for all phases of design and/or construction
- Supervise the development of quantity surveys and cost evaluations relating to design documents, contract drawings, specifications or contract changes
- Review and report on contract estimates prepared by consultants; recommend if estimate is appropriate for client's implementation
- Review contractor proposals and compare them to scope of work
- Determine fair and reasonable value of work based on the proposal submitted, delineating cost by trade and discipline
- Communicate with contractors and sub-contractors to explain the client point of view on reasonable cost of work
- Participate in cost negotiations
- Plan, assign and review the cost estimating work of estimates
- Perform related tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, business, environmental services or related course work
- 5+ years of technical experience in architecture, electrical, mechanical or plumbing estimating areas
- Direct experience with large-scale electrical, mechanical, heavy civil projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, construction management, engineering, business, environmental services or related course work
- 5+ years of full time, technical experience in one of the estimating areas of architecture, electrical, mechanical or plumbing with direct experience with large-scale electrical, mechanical, heavy civil project
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge in use of HCSS HeavyBid, Sage Timberline, InEight (Hard Dollar), ConEst, Procore, CostOS, ProEst, STACK, ServiceTitan
- Construction contractor estimating experience
- AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) - CCP or CEP certification
- ASPE (American Society of Professional Estimators) - CPE and/or QTO Estimating certification
