As an experienced Design Engineer, you will provide insight in the development, test, and certification of propulsion systems for NASA's Human Launch Systems. You will become part of a multi-discipline team focused on establishing flight rationale for America's new Human-Rated vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Engage with senior engineers in the creation of CAD models, documents, drawings, and research with a focus on propulsion devices and support hardware.
- Utilize CREO parametric modeling software including extensions such as CREO cabling, piping, and additive manufacturing modules.
- Perform design and strength optimization of additively manufactured hardware.
- Collaborate with vendors and personnel from other NASA centers in the development of integrated flight hardware and associated ground test equipment.
- Assist with mentoring of junior engineers.
Requirements
- BS degree from an ABET accredited institution in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience
- Experience in the development of hardware designs for liquid and solid fuel engine systems, as well as associated ground tests equipment
- Proficiency in CREO, NX CAD, or Solidworks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- BS degree from an ABET accredited institution in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience (or Ph.D. with 19 years, Masters with 23 years, BS with 25 years)
Nice to Have
- MS degree from an ABET accredited institution in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or related field
- Experience in the application of finite element methods
- Experience with empirical closed-form structural analysis techniques
- Experience in the assessment of failure mechanisms
