The Senior Analyst - Trade Compliance oversees United's daily trade compliance processes, ensuring adherence to government regulations for material movement across international borders. This role involves maintaining regulatory awareness, implementing compliance systems, and providing oversight to internal and third-party stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Execute trade-related activities ensuring United’s compliance with U.S. and foreign laws and regulations
- Participate in and lead projects or initiatives of varying complexities related to trade compliance
- Identify procedural improvements to United’s trade-compliance activities and coordinate implementation with relevant stakeholders
- Assist with cross-functional projects related to trade compliance activities, transactions, and obligations
- Interface with regulatory authorities including U.S. CBP, U.K. HMRC, and Canada Border Services Agency
- Prepare trade-related applications and responses to regulator requests in coordination with Legal
- Generate, maintain, and monitor government import/export declarations, certifications, and OGA requests
- Coordinate with trade compliance team and internal stakeholders to develop import and export authorizations
- Conduct reviews and audits of United’s import and export compliance policies and procedures
- Manage and maintain records in accordance with government regulatory requirements and internal policies
- Conduct training and provide operational advice on compliant execution of trade and sanctions regulations
- Track, status, and provide reports and metrics associated with trade compliance activities
Requirements
- Experience with U.S. import regulations (19 CFR)
- Experience with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- Experience with Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
- Experience with regulations administered by OFAC
- 3+ years in customs or international trade
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience in Business, International Trade, Global Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- 3+ years in the field of customs or international trade
Nice to Have
- Experience with trade-related licenses and exceptions
- Knowledge of ACE, DECCS, SNAP-R, and/or OCR EASE
- Experience in applying international trade-related regulations in high-volume environments
- Experience with Technical Assistance Agreement (TAA) and Manufacturing Licensing Agreement (MLA) preparation and administration
- Tariff and/or export control classification ability and experience
- Audit and/or investigation knowledge and experience
- Global trade management software development or implementation skills
- 5+ years in customs or international trade
- Knowledge of, and experience in, the Aerospace or Airline industry
- Ability to read, understand, and apply complex regulatory text and legal rulings
