Security Officer

About This Role

This role is responsible for maintaining a safe environment at UF Health through enforcement, assistance, and patrol, ensuring service excellence for all customers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Enforce rules and assist customers and staff with tact and diplomacy
• Ensure service excellence for all internal and external customers and staff
• Patrol and maintain order and safe working conditions throughout assigned buildings and grounds
• Keep the hospital safe
• Maintain visually attractive appearance in personal hygiene and uniform
• Take initiative to assist visitors and patients with genuine interest
• Present a positive attitude in performing assignments and providing assistance
• Use a considerate and comforting tone when assisting distraught customers, visitors, and patients
• Diffuse and control situations involving anger, confusion, and threatening conditions
• Remain calm and in control during verbal and physical threats

Requirements

• Ability to reason and make decisions independently without direct supervision
• Ability to diffuse and control situations involving anger, confusion and threatening conditions
• Ability to remain calm and in control during verbal and physical threats

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-2 years security, law enforcement, or military experience

Nice to Have

• AA/AS degree or college courses in criminal justice, law enforcement or related field
• Three to five (3-5) years security in a hospital environment
