Security Officer

About This Role

Ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors, and property for Samaritan's Purse in Boone, NC, by maintaining a visible presence, monitoring activity, and responding to emergencies. This role requires a professional and vigilant individual passionate about protection and service within a faith-based organization.

Responsibilities

• Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
• Conduct yourself as a security professional at all times, creating an atmosphere to deter undesirable activity
• Greet all staff and visitors whenever practical to maintain a consistent visible presence
• Screen pedestrian and vehicular traffic for authorization to enter the premises
• Operate various equipment, such as card access, fire and burglar alarm, video cameras, and ministry vehicles
• Report hazardous conditions and follow all call-in procedures in case of emergency
• Identify threatening individuals and alert local law enforcement
• Be familiar with all Samaritans Purse facilities, policies, procedures, and regulations that affect the safety and security of all occupants
• Monitor activity across campus through regular physical patrols and the use of video surveillance
• Control access to campus during non-business hours; open/close and secure all buildings as scheduled
• Document all noteworthy activity in the shift log or appropriate incident report

Requirements

• Basic Law Enforcement Training
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Law Enforcement Officer or equivalent
• Eligible to complete/pass annual PPS training and certification as a PPS Officer through the North Carolina State Attorney General's office
• Fluency in English

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Law Enforcement Officer or equivalent

Nice to Have

• Basic keyboarding and computer skills
• 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies
