Security Officer

About This Role

The Security Officer provides essential health, safety, and security services at the Marathon Refinery in Kenai, AK, monitoring assigned areas and responding to emergencies to ensure the safety of employees, customers, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Monitor visually, electronically, or audibly various assigned areas or grounds
• Ensure maximum level of safety and compliance in own actions and those of others
• Verbally de-escalate situations to ensure the safety of fellow employees, customers, and clients
• Examine the interior and exterior of the refinery and surrounding areas to determine their security status
• Report and record data such as property damage and unusual occurrences
• Warn violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators
• Notify on-site individuals of visitors wishing to see them
• Assist in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters to preserve life and property
• May perform routine input or monitoring of safety and life support computer programs
• May issue and record ID badges

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years
• Must be 21 years of age
• Must have or receive a valid TWIC card prior to employment
• Must be able to obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $98.25 prior to beginning work
• Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients
• Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision
• Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation
• Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• At least two (2) years of security, law enforcement or military experience preferred
