Security Officer

About This Role

The Security Officer for Daley College protects and assists college students, faculty, staff, and visitors while safeguarding all college property. This role enforces state and municipal laws and Board of Trustees rules, reducing the college's liability risks.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor assigned areas, including buildings, dock areas, and parking lots.
• Protect and assist staff, students, and visitors, ensuring only authorized individuals are present.
• Adhere to and enforce state and municipal laws and Board of Trustees rules.
• Report all incidents on incident report forms before shift completion and notify supervisors of disturbances.
• Operate CCC vehicles for patrol and other assignments as directed by a supervisor.
• Respond to sick or injured persons, call 911 when necessary, and provide emergency services.
• Secure access to buildings and offices.
• Maintain proper maintenance and handling of security radios and equipment.
• Enforce parking regulations.
• Appear in court hearings related to campus incidents when required.

Requirements

• Active or retired sworn officer in good standing
• Two years law enforcement experience
• Knowledge of relevant state statutes and local ordinances
• Ability to articulate verbally in a clear and distinct manner
• Basic knowledge of personal computers and applicable software
• Ability to operate all security-related equipment
• Ability to drive and operate CCC vehicles
• Ability to perform job responsibilities in inclement weather

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent, Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• At least two years of experience in a law enforcement capacity as an active or retired sworn officer.
