This is a seasonal opportunity within the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources at Governor Nelson, Lake Kegonsa State Parks, and Glacial Drumlin Trail. The roles, Park Ranger and Park Technician, involve customer service, facility and grounds maintenance, and public safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform grounds maintenance activities, including repairs on park structures and routine building cleaning
- Safely operate and maintain park equipment, trails, and water distribution systems
- Provide recreation management and assistance with resource protection
- Manage public safety through maintenance, facility management, and administrative activities
- Assist with visitor assistance program and monitor recreation facilities
- Educate property visitors about user conduct rules and arboretums
- Perform land management activities and resolve visitor service issues
- Conduct revenue activities and disseminate information to public
- Operate machinery such as UTVs, skid steers, chainsaws, and mowers
- Manage properties and their facilities to protect public health and safety
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Minimum of two years licensed driving experience
- No more than three (3) moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two (2) years
- No OWI/DUI violations within the past year
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public (for Park Ranger)
- Customer service and cash handling experience (for Park Ranger)
- Knowledge, skills and experience of general maintenance operation (for Park Ranger and Park Technician)
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual (for Park Ranger and Park Technician)
- Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc. (for Park Ranger and Park Technician)
- Building and/or facility repair or maintenance experience (for Park Technician)
